Leaves, Trees, And A Link Up

Exciting stuff over here at the Old Hays Plantation (Insert eye roll here, I will wait. K. Done? Good. Moving on). Today is Thursday, February 14th! Do you know what that means?!? That's right! Photography link up day with Cari and the Clan. Oh, you thought I was going to mention something about the over priced love, flowers, candy, kisses day? Nope! Not me! Today's theme for the link up? Leaves or Trees. Say what? LEAVES? TREES? In February? In Missouri? Calm down! All is well. Fortunately, I plan for things such as this (Eye roll again, go ahead. Get it out of your system).  I took these shots in Colorado this fall. They are some of my all time faves.

The sky out there is so beautiful and clear and blue! It was a blast! Once I was able to catch my breath and move suddenly without my head feeling like it would explode because of the altitude difference, I had a great time! The hubs carved our names into one of these beautiful giants and someday, when we return a little piece of us will be there...a part of us never leaving this beautiful part of the country? ROMANTIC! Ick. I totally just went there, didn't I? Happy Link Up Day to all of you. And I suppose Happy Valentine's Day, too! Now, run fast and see all the bigger and betters! Maybe you will fall in love!

  1. Oh aspens! My favorite tree. I've never tried a shot like this so maybe when we go back west I can get more practice. It's so neat!

    1. Haha! I laid on the ground. It was an awesome view, for sure! Just wish they had turned a little more at this point. They had up the mountain further but let's face it...I'm way too out of shape to make that trek! Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I love how the two trees seem to meet in the middle but are actually at different heights altogether. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Oh my gosh I AM WITH YOU!! If I see that blasted Hallmark commercial one more time where the "Actress" is crying about "I want you to say I'm beautiful" blah blah blah. She's an actress and we know it. So those tears are fake? Anyway, I go on a tirade that makes my husband laugh every time that stupid commercial comes on. February 15th can't come soon enough.

And the photos - uhmazing. Seriously so pretty. Top is my favorite and could be in a magazine!!

    1. Hahaha! So I am not the only one? Thank goodness! If my husband had paid the overblown and inflated price they charge for roses on Valentine's Day, my head would have been "overblown"! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the compliment! I'm blushing...like a little girl...on Valentine's Day...with her first Mylar balloon. Cynic.

  7. makes me dizzy too!

I would have to lay down to take them - standing, I would never be able to get things to focus, or stand still, or keep from falling.

    1. Melanie, the altitude made me so dizzy and then you throw in the hike up the side of a MoUnTaIn (which was as difficult as typing that word like that, whew!). I didn't even notice my head spinning because of the trees. And to be honest, I laid on the ground to catch my breath and looked up. Woah! Inspiration in the strangest places, eh?

  8. I adore shots of skies-through-trees! I love these photos so much, I would print on and hang it in my house. If that wasn't stealing, of course. :)

    1. Haha. Steal away, Micaela. And if you really would like it, I can send you the shot via email. Then it would be "not" stealing, it would be gifting and the print would be much better quality.
